Arkansas Gay Bar Destroyed in Fire

An Arkansas gay bar that was the target of an attempted arson last month was destroyed by flames early Saturday morning. Fayetteville’s Studio 716 was left an empty shell with the east wall and parts of the roof and floorboards missing. Fire Chief Terry Lawson would not comment on how the fire may have started, but representatives for the club posted a message on their Web site calling the blaze “an unprovoked attack.”

Constitutional Gay Marriage Bans Go Into Effect

Amendments to the Constitutions of Arkansas, Oregon and Ohio to ban same-sex marriage went into effect today. In Oregon, the constitutional ban on gay marriage took effect on Thursday as the Oregon Supreme Court awaited final briefs from lawyers to determine whether nearly 3,000 marriage licenses issued to same-sex couples are valid.

Dumping Manure At Gay Parade His Constitutional Right Man Contends

A Conway area farmer says he was exercising his constitutional right when he spread 3 tons of horse, cow, and pig manure along the route of the community's first gay rights parade June 27. Wesley Bono, 35, Monday pleaded innocent to dumping manure on the parade route and in front of the home of a couple who organized the Pride weekend.
